My name is Matthew, your advisor at Cadence Planning.
I entered the professional world as a teacher. For over six years, I spent time with students, developed after-school robotics programs, and relished the opportunity to educate and empower the people around me.
That is why, I believe it is important for clients to understand, I entered the financial world as a teacher as well.
The passion for teaching never left me. I had witnessed, first hand, the impact education has on someone's self-confidence, security, and semblance of joy. And I carry this approach with me into my advising.
In 2006 I decided to leave teaching altogether to work full-time as a tax accountant. I took and passed each section of the EA exam between 2009 and 2010, receiving my EA designation in March 2011. I've been given the opportunity to present to my peers at conferences and in 2012 was honored to be a recipient of the “Outstanding Young Professionals Award” from the Maryland Society of Accountants. In 2021, I completed the Financial Planning Program at the Boston Institute of Finance at Bryant University and subsequently passed the CFP exam and earned my CFP Marks.
It's been a hard but rewarding journey and has left me feeling empowered to help clients. That is why I love what I do.
I enjoy assisting clients seeking advice on employer-provided stock options, employee stock purchase plans, and those who want integrated tax planning as part of their comprehensive financial planning services.
One of my enduring goals is to provide comprehensive financial advice and a transparent fee structure. I am committed to ensuring clients fully understand what they are paying for without any hidden costs or pressure to purchase additional products. My passion lies in providing tax planning and tax preparation as part of my comprehensive financial planning services, a focus that I believe sets me apart from other financial advisors.
My high ethical standards and extensive experience in the financial markets, built on relationships based on integrity and trust, form the bedrock of his approach at Cadence Financial Planning. Before becoming a financial planner, I honed my skills with a major retail broker-dealer, working with high-net-worth clients and educating them on options trading, portfolio hedging, and risk management strategies. My unique perspective as a former partner in an options trading firm and member of the Chicago Board of Trade equips me with a distinctive insight into the financial markets, including a thorough understanding of the fundamental and technical aspects.
My professional qualifications and active memberships testify to my expertise and commitment to continuous learning. I am pursuing the Enrolled Agent designation and hold a B.S. in Finance from DePaul University. Bart is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and a Chartered Market Technician®, further enhancing his extensive knowledge network.
